Ellis Campbell

Speech and Language Therapist

Ellis graduated from the University of Strathclyde in 2019, and began her career working in the scenic Western Isles of Scotland. There, she had a mixed caseload of both adult and paediatric clients, covering a vast geographical location. Ellis realised she had a passion for working with children and young people, and acknowledged the rewarding nature of working with families.

Since then, Ellis moved back home to the Glasgow region, and works both in the NHS and at The Muir Practice. She is fully qualified to carry out Autism assessments and has gained considerable experience in this area in the last few years. In addition to this, she has a keen interest in working with clients with Situational Mutism (SM), speech sound disorders and language disorders.

What do you do to switch off from work?
To switch off from work I enjoy reading, going swimming (in particular going for cold water dips with my friends) and spending time with family. As well as taking the odd trip here and there as I love to explore our world!

Tell us something that none of your colleagues know about you?
I'm a piper and played in a pipe band from the age of 8 until I went to university. I dabble in languages, and have qualifications in French, Italian and Spanish!

What would be your last supper?
Lasagne, chips and garlic bread!

What did you want to be growing up?
Growing up I wanted to be a doctor or a modern languages teacher (no difference huh!) - I feel being a speech and language therapist allowed me to merge both worlds together, with the need to understand an array of medical profiles and their impact on communication, as well as understanding language and how it develops.

Describe The Muir Practice
