Karen Swain
Neurodevelopmental Practitioner & Speech and Language Therapist
Karen has been working as a Paediatric Speech and Language Therapist within the NHS for over 15 years. She assesses and provides therapeutic intervention to children and adolescents with a range of speech, language, and communication needs.
For many years of her career Karen has worked within a multidisciplinary team to assess children with neurodevelopmental differences. Karen has specific training and many years’ experience also as an autism clinician. She thrives in supporting children and their families to understand their diagnosis and communicate this in a caring, compassionate, and positive way.
Karen is also experienced in delivering groups for parents of children with a diagnosis of autism or social communication differences. She is a certified Hanen More Than Words clinician and has a wealth of experience supporting parents by delivering this programme.
What do you do to switch off from work?
Spending lots of time outdoors helps me switch off. Camping with family and friends and getting out on kayak and paddle board.
Tell us something that none of your colleagues know about you?
I was a sports acrobatics gymnast from the age of 4 until I was 16 and competed nationally.
What would be your last supper?
Medium rare fillet steak, dauphinoise potatoes and asparagus.
