Kirsty Stewart
Occupational Therapist
Kirsty graduated from Glasgow Caledonian University in 2003 with a BSC in Occupational Therapy. She is a member of RCOT and HCPC. Kirsty has a Paediatric background working in the NHS for the last 18 years; she has worked with children and young people with a wide range of conditions including autism, developmental co-ordination disorder and cerebral palsy.
Kirsty has gained extensive experience within a range of settings including home, school, child development centre and hospital environment. When working with children, Kirsty provides intervention, support or advice to children and young people where there may be a difference that impacts their ability to participate in everyday activities. This support can include sensory processing, motor skills and independence skills.
Kirsty has a particular interest in sensory processing and autism and, more recently, in the assessment and diagnosis of autism. Kirsty thoroughly enjoys working with children, young people, and their families to ensure they are provided with support and knowledge to function independently as they grow and develop.
What do you do to switch off from work?
I sing in a local community choir and I look forward to Tuesday’s for this reason.
Tell us something that none of your colleagues know about you?
I hate swimming in the sea because I don’t want to meet any creatures. Yet I managed to swim in the Great Barrier Reef!
What would you last supper be?
My last supper would be spaghetti and meatballs with crusty bread and butter followed by baked Alaska.
What did you want to be growing up?
Growing up I wanted to be a midwife.
